Q: What is your toothbrush made of?
A: Our toothbrush handle is made of bamboo Phyllostachys edulis sp., which is wildly grown in the mountains using little water and no pesticides. Bamboo is considered a grass and is known to be a highly renewable and sustainable resource. However, since we have several lines of bamboo toothbrushes, we also use different materials for the bristles to cater every need for our growing customers. Please refer to the next question to know which one is which.
Q: Which toothbrush should I get?
A: Our toothbrushes vary in handle shape, bristles shape, and bristles materials. Here we make a bullet-point explanation to make sure that you can choose whichever suits you best.
Everyday Crayon, that comes with the combination of lightweight handle, unique curved bristles shape, colorful vibes, and partially plant-based bristles (up to 62% castor bean oil bristles), will give you the necessary control and precision to gently clean hard-to-reach areas in the mouth (yes Mr. Wisdom Teeth, we call you out!). We use less and less petroleum-based plastic while providing you 5 pretty colors to choose from this series.
Everyday Toothbrush, featuring a specifically designed handle to deliver a natural non-slip grip while keeping the aesthetic appeal of a real bamboo stalk. This toothbrush also comes with a multilevel bristles pattern to give better contact with the areas between teeth. Everyday Toothbrush Charcoal contains 62% castor bean oil and charcoal additives for teeth-whitening effect in the long term, and Everyday Toothbrush Pure White contains 100% castor bean oil bristles. Q: How do you properly dispose the toothbrush?
A: Remove the bristles with pliers and put into a recycling bin or make an eco-brick. Put the handle into a compost bin or find another creative use of the pretty handle (maybe making a flower vase by stacking them together?). Recycle the paper packaging.
Q: Is your toothbrush compostable?
A: Each of our toothbrush in Klandizie has a bamboo handle that is compostable within 3-6 months in the home composter (cut it smaller, then it will degrade faster).
However, even though we have 100% plant-based bristles in Everyday Toothbrush Pure White variant, they are not meant for your home-composter bin. Our biobased bristles will eventually decompose and return to the earth (even at a faster rate, compared to conventional plastic bristles), but the breakdown will heavily depend on the soil/ocean activity. The bristles also require constant and high temperature for them to eventually return to the soil, and that can only be achieved within industrial composting facility. For the bristles, we suggest you put them into a recycling bin or an eco-brick if there's no local industrial composting facility available.

Klandizie is the FIRST eco-store in Indonesia's marketplace to sell bamboo toothbrushes, after some thorough 4-year research and experiment on different brands and models since 2013. Starting as customers ourselves, we got tired of waiting for a brand to launch our ‘dream’ products, so we launch our own product. Here in 2024, we are on the progress of cultivating the land for our own organic bamboo farm and hopefully we will gain more control of the manufacturing process in the future!
